Safety and reviews
These rules apply to jobs, profiles, photos, quotes, reviews, work posts and messages on BuildHarbour.
Report a concern
Email us if you see a scam, threatening or abusive message, unsafe work claim, fake profile, copied photo or review that does not reflect a genuine experience. Tell us which job, profile or conversation is involved and what happened. Share only information needed to explain the concern. Reports currently go to our support mailbox and are reviewed manually; this is not an emergency service.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services. For a suspected crime, contact the police. Do not wait for an email response.
What is not allowed
- Fraud, impersonation, requests for sensitive account details, or offers for work you cannot lawfully perform.
- Harassment, threats, hateful or sexually exploitative content, or attempts to share another person's private information without permission.
- Photos or words you do not have permission to publish, misleading credentials or insurance claims, and fake or paid-for reviews that are presented as independent.
We review reports, may ask for more information, and may remove content or restrict an account. We consider the context and can take different steps depending on the concern. We cannot promise a fixed response time in early access.
How reviews work
A homeowner can leave one review for the tradesperson selected for that homeowner's assigned job. Reviews are written by users; BuildHarbour does not independently verify that the work was completed or that every statement is accurate. We do not create reviews or offer rewards for positive ratings. A homeowner may edit their review. If a review appears false, abusive or unrelated to a genuine job, report it using the button above; we will review the context before taking action. We do not promise to remove a review merely because it is negative.
Choosing a tradesperson
Profiles are user supplied. Before hiring, check references, relevant insurance and any trade-specific registration yourself. For gas work in the UK, check the Gas Safe Register. Agree scope, price and timing directly with the tradesperson and keep a written record.
